Sue Miller

Sue has always wanted to write a novel. Sure, lots of people might say that but Sue is taking it seriously. So seriously, in fact, that she has just completed an MA in Creative Writing.


“I’ve always been interested in creative writing. The intellectual rigour, picking the right words for the right moment and analysing all manner of situation are all skills that I use on a daily basis in my professional role. A lot of people say they’ll write a novel about the issues they’ve had to deal with in their career but, for me, a particular inspiration was a desire to explore how people make – and live with – difficult choices in life. I am using the setting of a barristers’ chambers as I am familiar with this – and the world of employment law – from my work in HR.”

All of which is no mean feat when you consider her busy professional life, which sees her advising Boards and Chief Executives on the nitty-gritty of life at the top.

2013 is a big year for Sue, marking, as it does, three decades at the vanguard of her profession. Speak to her and you’ll be tapping into 30 years’ worth of top-flight, professional experience and knowledge. After 10 formative years in local government in the capital, covering political hot potatoes like policing and community safety, she moved to the NHS, where she began to cut her teeth in HR.

From then on, Sue began to forge a strong reputation, fast becoming an HR and OD practitioner with substantial Board-level experience as an HR Director and a track record of achieving significant change.
