David Chmiel

David enjoys his portfolio career pursuing his passion for advising corporations and banks on global political risk through his consultancy business Global Torchlight alongside roles drawing on his legal skill as a senior corporate and commercial lawyer as a participant in Lawyer Connective. It has meant working with DAC Beachcroft clients in Board advisory roles and various exceptional placements at the same time as working with the firm on joint client horizon-watching events alongside the firm’s political consultancy team, with Lord Hunt and Charles Clarke.

In his legal capacity, David advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, commercial contract drafting and negotiation, internal corporate reorganisations, and general corporate advisory issues. He has experience working with clients in a broad range of industries, including pharmaceuticals and healthcare, consumer products manufacturing, and food and beverage companies.

Given his other role, David has a particular interest in matters with an international dimension, having worked for ten years in the London and Chicago offices of a major global law firm. David holds a BA in Economics and History from the University of Victoria, a Bachelor of Laws degree (with honours) from University College London and an MA in Intelligence and International Security from the War Studies Department of King’s College London.
